Dr. Wandscher is originally from Wilson, NC and decided on a career in optometry after her vision was saved from a nearly-blinding retinal detachment as a young teen. She graduated from Appalachian State in 2021 with an honors degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. While in school, she participated in research pioneering alternative therapies for prostate and ovarian cancer as well as working as an optician here at BRV! She attended the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Optometry, and quickly returned to the Boone area after graduating in 2025. In her free time, she enjoys baking, hand embroidery, listening to the Grateful Dead, and spending time with her partner, dog, and cat.
